Excessive Illness - Please Read
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Due to an unusually high number of students and staff affected by the flu, we have made the difficult decision to cancel school on Friday (January 23rd )and Monday (January 26th.) We are doing this in conjunction with the weekend to give our students an extended time out of the building and away from each other so they may have a better chance to get well……. However, because of the short notice, we will still be in session on Thursday (January 22nd.)
This decision was made to protect the health and safety of our students, families, and staff and to help prevent the further spread of illness within our school community. We have been monitoring our absences all week, hoping that each day will be the peak. As of today, we have reached 35% of our student body, along with multiple staff members, out of school due to illness and the number continues to rise. Classes will resume as scheduled on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
This plan also coincides with the potential weather situation this weekend. Now our parents have ample time to plan for Monday and do not have to wait and see how the roadways are that morning.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the well-being of everyone in our school. Updates will be shared via our usual school communication channels.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Sincerely,
Matt Simpson, Superintendent
Tushka Public Schools
